Celebrating Until the End

Aztec/Mayan CalendarWell, another year is coming to a close this December. While the majority of us will be buying a new insert for our daily planners for 2013 those utilizing the Mayan calendar are out of luck as the Mayans made their calendar so long ago to cover so much time that they are no longer around to make a new one. There’s some debate about whether or not they had ever planned to, but I’ll leave that to the scholars who debate such things. (I can’t help thinking that tongue sticking out of the central figure in the calendar might be meant as a cheeky gesture.)

As for the Dark Jane Austen Book Club we plan to see 2013 full of another year of reading, but just in case, we are planning to have plenty of fun and celebrating until the end…of December or the world. Whichever comes first.

We hope you join with us for:

  • Reading Fitzwilliam Ebenezer Darcy by Barbara Tiller Cole, who will be joining us for a guest post and offering up a giveaway! Also look for us over at Darcyholic Diversions for some Darcy love.
  • Participating in the Book Review Club‘s Christmas with Jane, which they’ll have going all month long. We’ll be interviewing and guest posting on their site along with a slew of other Austen bloggers and authors. We’ll even be hosting a mini-challenges here, so stay tuned.
  • Contributing to the Austen Soiree linking up with My Jane Austen Book Club with our tribute to Jane Austen on her 237th birthday!
With all that going on, plus the normal holiday celebrating we do in our personal lives, I’m sure it will be a wonderful way to finish out 2012.

So who’s planning on reading with us? Will you be among those participating in the other events as well?
